Cities have an intimate relationship with transport. They are often located due to rivers, trails, junctions or other transport related features. Bridges and waterfront form the identity of many cities (such as London, in the above image).
And transport is often a problem in cities as they are now too congested and travel through them becomes a trial.

In other parts of the world, smaller, more human-scale options give more options for city travel. Public transit, walking are real possibilities in most, non-American cities.

And there are mopeds, bicycles and a variety of other little vehicles that allow people to move about cities.
