CU Volleyball:

Fresh(person) kills. (1999 season)

1999 brought a great freshman class to CU. They made an impact on the kill charts. Taskey would have made a run for it as well, but she lost part of the season to an injury.

Remember, that while Gower is playing OH this year, that isn't her natural position. She's a setter.

(Final 1999 records. There have been 49 freshmen in CU volleyball history.)

Top freshmen, season kills

1. Karrie Downey 1991 440
2. Tina Murry 1987 270

Best kills per game for freshmen

1. Karrie Downey 1991 3.86
2. Sarah Lodge 1995 2.73
3. Melissa Schultz 1995 2.70
4. Tina Murry 1987 2.67
5.
Meghan Barkman 1999 2.52
6. Kim Taskey 1999 2.19
7. Rachel Wacholder 1993 2.09

11. Elizabeth Gower 1999 1.94

15. Corey Hays 1999 1.60

When you look at the kills/game you can see that three of the 1999 class are also among the top. Corey's totals are misleading since she didn't play very much.

Note that Barkman, as a Middle Blocker, is pretty efficient as well.

Of course, CU is a young team in 1999 and thus this class is getting a lot of playing time. With a more senior crew ahead of them they might not have had the opportunity to get this far this fast.

Also, everyone's averages fell at the end of the season.

Still - next three years are going to be fun.
