Exodus in one paragraph: Even more than Genesis, Exodus lays out the root metaphor of the Old Testament: the story of escape from bondage and the meaning of that story - God's care for the chosen people. In the course of that story we learn about God's name, and the primary covenant between God and humanity is set out. We also see, that from the beginning, the relationship of God and humans will be one of backsliding and return, revealing God's desire to redeem.
